Regional Sports Complex Trafford ParkClient: Trafford Park Development Corporation
Market and financial feasibility study of a £50 million entertainments, leisure and sports complex connected with the regional shopping centre in Trafford UK, comprising 12 major facilities. These included a stadium; a leisure and amusement centre itself comprising several amenities such a leisure pool with flumes and rides, leisure ice rink, "cosmic" bowling alley, night club, virtual reality arcade games, café and bars; a tennis and health club; a rowing club; multi-sports hall, hotel and restaurants etc.
South Bank Centre, LondonClient: Arts Council England
The refurbishment and modernisation of the Royal Festival Hall to create additional education, retail and circulation space and to improve the comfort and acoustic of the auditorium. A new extension office building is also being developed to provide retail space and accommodation for the South Bank Centre’s administration. Cedar Global / TPLA was involved with the assessments at RIBA stages D and E.
Airport Terminal Hotel, Athens GreeceClient: Athens International Airport
Appraisal of market and financial feasibility and commercial advice on procurement, including preparation of technical and commercial tender documentation and a concession agreement under a PFI type mechanism for a 300 bedroom 4/5 star hotel to be linked to the terminal building at the New Athens International Airport, Greece.
Sage Music Centre, GatesheadClient:Arts Council England
Assessment through design development and monitoring through construction for this landmark project. The building includes a 1700 seat concert hall, 450 seat 2nd hall, rehearsal hall, music education centre, music access and information library, conferencing and entertainment suite and full bar, catering and retail services.
Baltic Institute of Contemporary Arts, GatesheadClient: Arts Council England
Assessment through design development and monitoring through construction. The Baltic Flour Mills was a disused 1950’s grain warehouse and was converted into the largest centre for contemporary visual arts outside London. The Gallery Building houses over 3000 sq m of art space in five exhibition galleries, artists’ studios, cinema/lecture spaces and a rooftop restaurant.The Riverside Building has a restaurant, café bar and retail outlet and bookshop.
Commonwealth Games Stadium, ManchesterClient: Department of the Environment
As part of its bid to host the Olympic Games in 2000, the City of Manchester invited proposals for the design, construction and operation of the main stadium. The Department of the Environment was sponsoring the bid and instructed Cedar Global / TPLA to review the business plans for the stadium up to the games and legacy mode for consistency with design, specifications and project costs and its value for money in relation to public sector investment. The City was not selected to host the Olympic games but the stadium was built subsequently, with modifications, to accommodate the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
Artscape Light Towers, DagenhamClient:Arts Council England
The Artscape scheme consists of in excess of 30 Sub-projects ranging from in excess of £1 million in value down to approximately £20,000 provided as part of the DBFO for the A13 extension through Dagenham Essex. Cedar Global / TPLA was involved in the assessment during design development and subsequent construction monitoring.
Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford upon AvonClient:Arts Council England/Advantage West Midlands
The existing RST is to be transformed to incorporate a 1000 seat thrust stage auditorium, enhanced public areas with improved facilities, a new tower and foyer linking the RST and Swan Theatre and improved backstage facilities. New and improved facilities are to be provided for wardrobe, workshop, learning and administration on the Chapel Lane site and a temporary 1000 seat prototype auditorium, The Courtyard Theatre, has been built as an extension to The Other Place which is to be restored when the Courtyard is demolished. Cedar Global / TPLA is currently involved in the assessments during design development.
